Hmm, I was just about to start writing a bit when I got sidetracked by my first thoughts as to what a SIM is and is not. The SIM itself has been around for a fairly long time now, something like 20 years or so. While we have been used to the SIM, other relatives of it have appeared. These have names like USIM, RUIM, CSIM, ISIM and so on. For simplicity I think I will refer to them all collectively as just SIM. I am sorry if that would offend anyone but I cannot see why it would.
That stated, the question as to what a SIM really is might actually still remain. To many people I am sure it is just a small piece of plastic that goes into the phone. For other people it is a miniature processing device. For other people again, it is an identity token needed for access to the cellular network. This is of course the strictest definition, even if all of them are correct in some sense and several more correct options are possible.
With mobile telephone as widespread as it is today, the SIM is an extremely well-spread little item. Almost everyone has one and many of us have several. So by widening the approach as to what the SIM is and what we can use it for it can help create value for both the subscribers and the operator. I know that many people might not have thought about this at all whereas others have thought about it quite a lot.
In this blog, I will take the liberty to do several things. While trying to remember the title of the blog I might speculate of different topics and ideas. I will also be a bit bold and set out on a mission to try to teach a little in general about what the SIM is and the possibilities it gives us. That might potentially make my blog the most boring blog in the world. In order to remedy that, and to gauge to what extent Spotify is still hot, I hereby promise a Spotify invite to the one that proposes the topic for the next entry in this blog. Hopefully, the winner will recognize it when they see it. If I get no proposals, I guess everyone already has Spotify.
